Ashore in Torpoint, PL10
Honeydew is now ashore after a lift out last September.
The tamarisk shrub grows in the Sinai desert where it is parasites by sap sucking flies leaving a coating of honeydew which can be collected at dawn as sugar crystals. This is thought by some to be the manna which sustained the Israelites during their 40 years there following the Exodus. If the tamarisk could support a nation maybe it could support the sailor.
The current owner has the agreement to build signed in 1981. The boat was launched in 1982. There is a certificate from HM Customs and Excise dated 17/06/93 that VAT is paid/deemed paid on the vessel. It is SSR registered.
The current owner has cruised the boat since retiring, mostly between September and April, and have lived on board it since 1995. but now he is 83 and has retired to a motorboat.
