'Sandpiper' is a 1974 built boat with 38ft length and an 11ft beam. She is a ferrocement boat with wooden interior, we believe originating from New Zealand. She is set up to be refurbished as a liveaboard, which was the current owners original intention before a change of circumstances has her now listed as 'free to a new home'.

Although very heavy, the ferrocement hulls are known for getting stronger with age, and rule out a lot of the issues that are often associated with steel or fibreglass construction. From the photographs we can see she is built with a large cabin, extruding from the deck. She is currently reported to be fitted with a double bed (we are told with a new mattress), a wood burning stove, gimballed boat stove/oven, and a large fridge. In the photographs we also see a large wooden galley table. Her owner describes the cabin as very spacious, and reports extra space forward in the bow for another berth, storage and a bathroom.

It is reported her last survey was in 2000, and her owner, who has had her only a few months, is upfront that she needs a new one. No other issues are known apart from a non-running engine and dodgy bilge pumps, and the cockpit lockers need repair. We cannot comment on the age of the rigging, and do not know at this point if there are sails to suit. The mooring in principle can be taken over, but it will have to be discussed separately.
