Ashore in Portland, Dorset.

It was bought 3 years ago as a project boat to be used for an Atlantic crossing, but the scope of the project was underestimated.  It is a big project indeed. It would need a complete refit to do any serious sailing again.

1. The hull suffers from osmosis. It tackled by the current owner. About 4 mm have beend shaved off to remove all the blisters and left for a whole summer to dry out. Filled and faired until somewhat smooth. The decks are warped and weakened by cracks. The main bulkhead is delaminated in several places.

2. The rigging is over 15 years old, and it was recommended to be replaced by two separate professional riggers. A quote of 15.000 pounds was mentioned. The mast is the original Kemp mast, 50+ years old. The knees that the shrouds connect to were in really bad condition. The owner started to make new ones that could be strong enough if they were finished and have actual chain plates made and fitted to replace the original U-bolts that caused the damage to the decks over the years.

3. There is the entire sail inventory present as it used for racing, but only two of the sails are in decent condition: one main sail and one number 1 large genoa made from composite fibres.

4. There is no engine. It was in very bad condition. The cylinder head was severely corroded and leaking exhaust gasses into the boat. It would need a new engine fitted.

5. None of the electrics worked, and the wiring was never replaced. All is ripped out, and it would need to be re-wired and have new electrics fitted.
